After a horrendous October, I was ready for some good things to happen. As luck should have it, this month we got a house, a new puppy and I have taken on the role as Editor of Simply KC Magazine. I guess the saying “good things come in 3’s” does ring true!
We brought home Alfie two weeks ago, and we are just couldn’t imagine life without him. We have been without a pet for 3 years, so we were very excited to get this pup. He is the SWEETEST little thing. He is a french bulldog, that we got from a breeder in Paola, KS called Budacious Bulldogs. They are wonderful, if you are looking for a Frenchie. We have multiple friends that have gotten their dog from there. When they sent pics of his litter, we knew we wanted the one with the patch over one eye 🙂 It was love at first sight.
I have never raised a puppy before. Man, it’s a ton of work. It is like having a baby! You have to constantly keep an eye on them. I am potty training him, so we are outside every 20-30 minutes and he is on a pretty good schedule. He sleeps for an hour and plays for about an hour and a half. He sleeps through the night, which is amazing…has pretty much done so from day one! It’s hard to get much done at home, I am constantly tending to him…but I know it will be worth it to have him house trained and to make sure he doesn’t destroy everything in his path 🙂 He is teething like crazy!
We found a house, and literally moved two weeks later. It was CRAZY.It was really exhausting having to move from two places (the apartment and storage unit). The movers that moved us a year ago (3 men and a truck) did an AWFUL job…we had so many things either damaged or broken for good. It’s just so disappointing. But, you have to remember it’s just “stuff” and that you will find something else you love. I am so glad for the move to be over, and I am praying we don’t move again for a while!
I have a bunch of house projects that I am trying to get accomplished, but it is not easy with the dog! My friend and designer Marci Knoff is helping me pick some pieces, and to help me decide on fabrics to reupholster some pieces that we love but that need a refresh. I am someone who wants things done immediately; but I am trying to be patient with this one! I think sourcing pieces out and really spending time finding what you love helps make a house a home.
And thank you to all of you who had such kind words about my new editor position with Simply KC Magazine. After 5 year of writing for the magazine, I am really excited to take on a new challenge! I am also styling the fashion spreads in issues going forward, which is always fun for me. Love what we did with Glitters Jewelry for the November issue!
