KC Fave: Caffetteria

I have been a LONG time fan of Jo Marie Scaglia’s food; The Mixx has been my go to for Salads and lunch fare since I moved here 10 years ago. Nobody does it better than Jo Marie when it comes to salad concoctions! So, you can imagine how thrilled I was to learn of her new concept; Caffetteria which was opening in Prairie Village, just steps from our new Health House location.

Before opening Jo Marie explained her concept to me which I found genius. Her philosophy: “To us, the act of gathering around a table for long Sunday dinners with stories, laughter and love go hand in hand. Caffetteria is all about continuing this tradition and not only sharing real food, but also real moments with our family, friends and community”. She has created a place where the community wants to gather. It is the perfect meeting spot for coffee, a lunch date or brunch with your family, or a dinner date night.

First of all, there are many healthy options on the menu other than just salads. While I tend to order her bowls (The Sunny Side up and Forager Paleo Bowl are a few of my favorites) she also has oven fired pizza’s, sandwiches and Artisanal plates. With the plates, you choose a protein, a sauce and a side which can range from garlic roasted broccoli and kale, to Cauliflower rice, or quinoa. If you go for breakfast you can find egg dishes, avocado toast, healthy granola and chia seed pudding bowls, and tasty donuts if you have a sweet tooth! Her focus is on whole foods, which speaks to me since that is how we eat at home. But, I can guarantee you will find something on the menu for each and every person in your family!

You can view her entire menu HERE.

Jo Marie has a fabulous eye for decor, which she showcased in this restaurant. She has a love for mid-century design which definitely came through in Caffetteria. I absolutely LOVE the color palette; a mix of black and white with pops of pink, yellow and orange. She has mixed in both sleek, modern design as well as some vintage pieces. It is bright, warm welcoming and unique. There is nothing “cookie cutter” about this place; it is really one of a kind.

A unique aspect to the restaurant is a beautiful private room that has dividers from the main dining room. This can be rented for a bridal luncheon, couples dinner party, a meeting, etc. It’s a gorgeous space with beautiful light. Jo Marie also just added patio furniture to the back side, so you can dine al fresco this summer!

Views from the private dining room. I am obsessed with the colorful dividers that open and close!

Go check out Caffetteria in the Prairie Village shops at 25 on the Mall. Monday-Saturday 7AM-9PM and Sunday 7AM-5PM
