I have been going to Miami for the past 15 years. I have learned what you need to pack; and I will say it’s definitely different than what you would wear in the midwest! Miami is a very diverse city, and the people who travel there are from all over the world. I always get so inspired when we visit because people are so well dressed. It’s inspiring to see how people dress for the pool as well as for the nightlife.
I break my packing list down by day and evening:
Chic swimsuits, and coverups are a must. My “skimpiest” bikini felt like granny panties compared to what most were wearing! Obviously wear what you feel comfortable in, but keep that in mind. I saw all body types rocking a thong swimsuit!
swimsuit: Kiini, Skirt: J.Crew, Hat: Artesano, Sunglasses: Barton-Perreira “airman”, Earrings: Nickel & Suede. These earrings are not pool proof, but they are super lightweight and look cute with a swimsuit! Probably the most comfortable earrings I own .
swimsuit: Robin Piccone from Nani Nalu Beachwear Boutique, Coverup: M2 Luxuries, Earrings: Nickel & suede, also wearing the Sierra Winter Bluestem earring Bag: J.Crew, old, Sunglasses: Barton Perreira “Dalziel”.
POOLSIDE ACCESSORIES: the bag, the sandals, the sunglasses, the hat. The bigger the better!
I saw so much great jewelry in Miami; especially at the pool. I now need to get myself a cute stack of pool friendly bracelets. Thinking something beaded, maybe tassels? There were a lot of gold layered necklaces and gold stacked bracelets.
I was set with this trio from Indian Summer Collection. She is a KC based company, making high quality pieces. Love her tassels!
Pack comfortable shoes to walk in and a cross body bag! This little gucci crossbody is the best investment I have made this spring. This bag goes with EVERYTHING
Outfits for Outings: Whether you are taking a boat trip, a day of shopping, or a trip to wynwood you will want some daytime outfits to run around in.
This J.Crew outfit that I posted about last week was perfect for Miami. The skirt played double duty for a coverup as well!
I was glad I packed both of these pieces which I threw on to go to breakfast, or run down to grab coffee
Depending on what your plans are (hot club vs. fancy dinner) you will want to pack accordingly. I always bring a mix of both, because you never know what you may be up for! Or if you decide to go downtown, or Wynwood that’s a whole other vibe.
One thing I do suggest is comfortable heels. You may end up dancing all night and there is nothing worse than having throbbing feet at the end of an evening. I wore the same shoes every single night because they worked with every outfit and they were super comfortable. They are old Banana Republic, but there are similar HERE.
We mostly had nice dinners planned, so I went more for sexier date night dresses than anything too skimpy
This knit Michael Stars dress was perfect for our first night at a Greek spot in Wynwood. It is so comfortable, but does run narrow at the bottom. Also, I am wearing a small for reference.
The first night at our hotel we were pretty exhausted (after a big night before with my best friend Jillian who lives in Miami!) So, we just had dinner at our hotel. I kept it simple with this blush knit dress (similar here) with earrings from Indian Summer Collection
I have gotten a lot of questions about this dress! It is from a site called Hello Molly. It is sheer up top but with a nude bra it wasn’t terribly revealing. My husband said this is the best dress I have ever worn 🙂 It’s funny what guys like vs. women! I also wore this with gold ball earrings from Indian Summer Collection and sunglasses from Barton Perreira.
The last night I was kind of tired of doing my hair…so I just slicked it back and went with it! I wore it with an oldie but goodie Mara Hoffman.
I always try to really plan ahead when packing so I don’t bring too much extra! Also, it’s good to save room for some shopping 🙂 Miami has everything you could ever want!!
