Our last week in Napa was one of the most fun trips we have been on. We had a few days just the 2 of us, followed by a long weekend with my closest college friends and their husbands. We have never all been together, husbands included so it was really great to have the whole gang in one spot for a few days.
A travel tip when going to Napa; the Oakland Airport is super easy to fly in and out of and is equal distance to Napa (both Oakland and San Fran are about an hour-11/2 hours away) You will get less traffic out of Oakland which is always a plus! It’s also a much smaller airport which makes it a little less congested.
Our first stop was Boonfly Cafe at the Carneros Inn. It’s an awesome breakfast restaurant. I have heard the hotel is great too, but we have never been on the grounds. Their spa is one of the best in Napa.
We checked into the White House Inn which is a darling bed and breakfast with 17 rooms, located in downtown napa. It was voted a Conde Nast top hotel last year; and I have to agree. It is truly charm overload; from the inside decor to the grounds. They did a great job with their recent renovation. Room #14 where we stayed has the whole top floor balcony, it’s a great room. The hotel also served a beautiful breakfast each morning. Also, they say they are a Inn and Spa; but it was really a small room in the pool house. I don’t really constitute that as a “spa”. But, overall we loved the hotel, what we didn’t love is that it was just too far from our favorite wineries and restaurants. It was a 20 min uber ride each way, which was not ideal. Next time we will stay in Yountville or St.Helena.
We went to Brix for lunch which I have never been to. They have a really great patio and garden area. And most importantly the food was incredible. It is all farm to table, super fresh. We truly enjoyed every minute!
After lunch we went to a tasting/tour at Nickel & Nickel which is some of my favorite wine producers. It is owned by Far Niente which is also incredible. They have a really pretty house and grounds on the property which is fun to see. The tasting had cheese pairings too, which I also love (even though I am Dairy Free, I will splurge on vacation!)
Our first night dinner was at Bouchon. Another Napa restaurant I have been dying to go to. It is located in Yountville where pretty much most of the best restaurants are located. It is French, and it is 100% amazing. The inside has a cool, retro vibe and the energy is great.
Ps, I did not pack enough warm items for this trip! The weather was all over the place. If you go to Napa just be sure to bring layers and options. This was the only sweater I had!
The next day I actually got a massage at the Bardessono hotel in the morning (which I highly recommend) and Jon went to a tasting. We met up again at Cardinale winery which was hands down our FAVE. It is on the higher end of the price spectrum, but the wine, the views and tasting could not be beat!
That night we ate at Press; which came highly recommended. I have had a lot of steaks in my lifetime and this was SO unbelievable it is hard to put it into words. The restaurant itself is not super fancy, but the food is ridiculous. It is a must if you get to wine country.
Too much wine, and a bit of a food coma…but we enjoyed every minute of it!
Third day in Napa:
We had most of the day before our friends arrived. We hit up a few smaller wineries that day. But the highlight was Larkmead which is a wine that we like to drink on special occasions! If I could move onto the Larkmead property I would; it is beautiful yet really casual and welcoming.
I want to a dinner party here! How beautiful is this setting?
The party crew arrived on Thursday night, and it was non stop laughter from then on. This group knows how to have a good time 🙂
We were on a 12 person bus for the entire day Friday. A tour guide took us to Reverie, JAM cellars and V12 vineyards which was probably the best of the 3. The views and the patio from V12 were really beautiful.
picnic lunch at JAM (this was my least favorite of the places we went to)
Last stop; V12 Vineyards
Friday night a private chef came to the house to prepare dinner. They set this gorgeous table, but we had to sadly move inside because the mosquitos were eating us alive! The backdrop was perfect; and we were sad to move the party inside, but the dinner was beyond perfect and it was fun to have the in-home chef experience.
Saturday was a pool day! We ventured briefly into Yountville for lunch at R&D kitchen which is a happening spot for lunch and dinner. They also have a great patio if you have to wait a while for a table
the beautiful birthday girl!
I am so incredibly thankful for these lifelong friends; they constantly make me laugh, lift me up, support and love me for who I am! I am so glad we had a few days together, and more incredible memories made!
