I feel like in the summer you have to switch up your products a little bit. Especially in Kansas City where the humidity is high, and the sweat factor is ridiculous.
Here are some of my current faves to get you through the sticky summer months
I have recently switched to a mineral tinted moisturizer instead of a BB Cream. For some reason, this is a little less greasy and I feel like my skin tone is more even when using this as opposed to other tinted moisturizers. I love the Jane Iredale brand, dream tint (I wear Medium). Jane created her line of cosmetics after working in the entertainment industry, and was finding that actresses were breaking out from makeup with harmful chemicals in them. This product is great for sensitive skin, it also comes in SPF 30 which is more than you normally get in a foundation You can find it at Bare Med Spa in Kansas City or online HERE.
Primer’s are kind of a game changer. They even out your skin, they help your makeup go on better, and I think it also keeps your makeup stay put throughout the day. Dermalogica’s newest primer is called Hydrablur. It is a Lightweight, non-greasy primer that minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, mattifies against oily shine and imparts a luminous finish to skin. I was a die hard Smashbox primer fan until I tried this. It is worth every penny, and a little goes a long way!
SPF can kill your skin in the summer, so you want to make good choices when you choose your products. One of my all time favorite products is Colorscience “sunforgettable brush on sunscreen”. First off, I love that it is in a powder form. It gives you the coverage you need without being a greasy cream or lotion. And it is super compact which fits nicely in your handbag, and it’s great for travel. It is a mineral sunscreen, and it comes in SPF 30 or 50.
Coola is the only sunscreen I will use on my kids and my body. I have read so much about how bad some of the sunscreens out there are, and it’s just better to pay a few extra dollars to get something you can feel ok putting on not only my kids but myself.
If you want an all natural primer, Coola’s Dawn Patrol classic makeup primer is great. It gives your skin a smooth finish, and it has an SPF 30! It is free of all the nasty stuff, and layers nicely with their new Mineral Face SPF 30.. If you are going to the pool or beach and you want just a little coverage but not a heavy makeup look you will love this.
