A few weeks ago Vivi and I took a last minute trip to Arizona to see my parents. This was a gift to Vivi for her 6th birthday, as she is usually in Arizona on her Birthday because of Easter break. But this year Easter was so early. So my parents surprised her with this trip! With the long winter that we had, it was good to get away for just a few days.
My son had tests all that week, and Jon had to work so the boys stayed home this go around. It was kind of fun to just have a girls only trip!
We had great weather! When we left KC it was in the 40’s so the dry heat felt amazing.
Vivi was under the weather, and was a bit challenging the first few days! She was just cranky, super tired and not herself. So, we pretty much went to the pool, and then took naps late in the afternoon together. It was really nice to just relax and be able to rest up without a huge agenda on our trip.
Vivi also spent some time painting with my mom. My mom is a really wonderful painter, and Vivi looks up to her so much! They did this little canvas together, and it turned out great! It was a pre-drawn out canvas from Target, which she just had to fill in the with color.
Vivi turned 6th while we were there! We did the pool, and then drove to Scottsdale that evening for dinner
The Henry is a restaurant that is fairly new to Scottsdale. It is GORGEOUS inside and out! Super eclectic and thoughtful in its decor. There is a coffee shop, full indoor restaurant and bar and a fantastic patio. The food was amazing! It is American fare with a little twist; with both healthy and splurge type items and their cocktails are REALLY good. I love the indoor decor. Which has a beautiful bar, and a spacious eating and dining area.
The patio was a highlight for me! It is cozy and inviting. There is also patio seating along the front of the restaurant.
I had the Tuna Poke bowl which was light and fresh
This cocktail was phenomenal! It is called the “Texas Paloma” which had deep eddy “ruby red,” fresh grapefruit, grapefruit soda
overall we loved not only the food, but the ambiance too! We will definitely go back!
On Sunday, we drove back to Scottsdale to spend one night at the Fairmont Princess hotel. It was a treat, we absolutely loved the hotel!
The property is very large, I believe they said they have 5 pools as well as golf and an incredible spa. Golf Carts take you to your room, with luggage on the back, because it is so spread out. There are multiple restaurants, and bars on the property as well. I hope we go back, because the Spa looked incredible. You could really spend a whole day there!
The rooms also look like they have been updated within the past few years. They were spacious, with pretty decor and a great bathroom with my favorite Le Labo products.
PS; this may be the greatest hotel robe I have EVER worn. I need to get my hands on one of these! Adding to my Christmas list this year 🙂
Our room was right by “Sunset Beach” pool, which has a pool and a sand area. This was a great spot for kids who want to do a little swimming, and play in the sand as well. It also had a great restaurant poolside to dine and have drinks at
the mermaid tail (AND matching bikini) was really the best birthday gift ever. She wore it all weekend long, and had lots of interest from other kids in the pool! You can get them HERE. Just make sure your little one is a good swimmer! They are high quality and I believe are worth every penny. You can shop my swimsuit HERE. I am wearing a small top and medium bottom.
We dined at the Mexican restaurant within the hotel, that is top rated in the Scottsdale area. La Hacienda has amazing, fresh Mexican food and ridiculously good margaritas. We stuffed ourselves, but it was so worth it! There happened to be a big company party happening in the courtyard by the restaurant. They had the most darling little donkey carrying beers in his packs on his back. Vivi fell in love 🙂 I mean, that tiny sombrero!!!!
After dinner we walked around the property (cactuses and flowers for days) and we also stopped for Gelato in the little market on the property.
A huge thanks to my parents for a fun few days in Arizona! We can’t wait to come back to visit soon!
