Style Scout Travels: San Francisco

We made a quick trip up to San Francisco for a client Christmas party this past weekend. Tonya and Lorenzo are our best friends of 14 years, but they are also our business partners. So, we spend a lot of time together traveling, which also allows the guys to work together on these trips! They are the easiest and best travel friends, we feel so lucky to now live so close to them.

We arrived late afternoon Friday in San Francisco so we dropped our bags and headed to the new Proper hotel rooftop for drinks so we could see the sunset.

This hotel is very cool; and small with the interiors designed by Kelly Wearstler. It is a unique space that I would love to go back to and spend more time in! The only downside is that it is located in a rough area of town.

I finally got to wear my velvet Reformation dress out. I have talked about Reformation before; they truly are the best fit and fabrics. The dresses all drape beautifully. They are an almost 100% sustainable company; which is something very few retailers can claim. I like supporting them because of their mission to create a cleaner/better clothing industry! This is the MELANY dress, and I am wearing a size 4

Leo’s Oyster Bar has been high on my list! I was so excited to finally check it out. The food and ambiance was great. It is TINY, and packed with great energy. Our service was just ok, very slow. But I would go back just for the oysters and the wine!

We stayed at the Ritz which is 5 min from Union Square (great location) and it was also very well priced! If you book through Amex, you get a $100 food/beverage credit and free breakfast. So it really is a good deal!

We had time Saturday morning to do a little exploring. It was my first time in the city so I was anxious to check it out!

The city reminded us of a mix between Chicago and New York, but with a California flare obviously. Being on the water and all of the palm trees make it a very cool city.

The Christmas party was in Atherton, which is about 45 minutes from downtown San Francisco. We stayed in Menlo Park (right next to Atherton) which is the home of Google and Facebook, and it is surrounded by super cute old downtown area with shops and restaurants. Palo Alto is about 10 min away and that is the home of Stanford University.

We stayed at a very cool new Boutique hotel called The Park James. My friend and sorority sister lives in Menlo Park and owns her own Branding/Marketing firm called Personify US. She did the branding for the hotel and it is amazing! We also loved all the special details throughout the hotel. The rooms were not big but really pretty. I love the storage closet with leather pulls and the succulents hanging. The bedding had their logo monogrammed on the sheets and blankets. And the bathrooms had Davines products and Frette linens 🙂 The bathroom in the lobby was VERY cool with the chevron mirror and gold lighting.

The outdoor lounge area and bar were perfect!

I was not super excited to have to go black tie for a Christmas party. It was stressing me out! You always hate to buy something you will wear once, and I was not familiar with what people may be wearing. But I ended up finding this Jill Stuart dress on Black Friday for a great price. It is also one of my absolute favorite shades of pink. My friends here in MB loaned me a fuzzy faux fur and a mongolian collar with tassels that I wore during the party because most of the party was in a tented (heated) area but it was still cool.

dress, Bag (ebay vintage), Earrings (Baublebar but currently sold out), Shoes, Necklace (my custom lariat from glitters fine jewelry + THIS)

The whole crew!

The party was gorgeous; complete with amazing lighting and florals. A whole tent with different food stations ranging from Indian Food to an entire sushi bar with everything you could want. They had a wine/champagne room, as well as a Caviar/Vodka station. They transformed their basketball court into a dance floor with an incredible female DJ. Gotta love a night of dancing! We had the best time 🙂

then we raced back to LA Sunday morning to see Vivi in her Nutcracker performance! We were so proud of her!!!

I hope we can get back to San Fran again soon, I feel like there is so much more to explore! Hope you all had a great weekend!
