This weekend was a crazy one; but I feel like May is always nuts with end of the year activities! Kids had a half day Friday; and I was a stand in for “grandparent’s day” since none of the grandparents could make it this year. It’s always fun to see them in their classroom, and how proud they are of their “space” and their work!
After we hit up Winstead’s which is a half-day tradition. The limeade’s are to die for! There is something so wonderful about a classic diner. I hope places like this never go away!
Friday night Jon and I had an impromptu dinner at the new Restaurant at 1900. He had been for lunch earlier in the week and said it was outstanding. The chef from the River Club is bringing her talents to this gorgeous new space within the 1900 Shawnee Mission parkway building (The Karbank building at SM Parkway and State Line Rd).
The interior is sleek and modern, but not too sterile feeling. The owner’s wife traveled the world, collecting salt and pepper shakers. These little works of art are prominently displayed throughout the restaurant.
There is a beautiful bar space and two small dining rooms that flank it on either side
The highlight for me was not only the food (which is some of the best I have had in KC!) But also the patio! It’s so nice to have another place to sit outside during the summer
Everything we ordered was out of this world. I can’t say one bad thing! We ordered some lobster puff pastry to start, along with the truffled chevre shown here. I had the halibut and it was beautifully prepared. We loved it so much, we can’t wait to go back. It has only been open a week, so you should still be able to get in. But I think this place will start filling up fast once the word gets out 🙂
After dinner we went to see our friend’s new Frenchie. Her name is Judy, and I am obsessed! Could she be more perfect??
Saturday I helped host a trunk show for Sierra Winter Jewelry at Lady Bye in Brookside. It was a big block party; with Skin KC and Madi Apparel who came with her cute airstream selling bra’s and panties! There were some fun vendors also popped up in Skin KC. It was fun hanging with some of my fave KC small biz owners!

Then it was full on sports the rest of the weekend! My husband juggled multiple sports while I did this event, and then I raced to take vivi to Soccer that night. Sunday Morning we had another soccer game at 10 am. Jules scored 3 goals! 2 of which I missed when I took Vivi to the bathroom 🙁 So proud of him and his buddy who also had a hat trick!
We ended the weekend celebrating my niece’s 8th grade graduation at Eddie V’s. If you haven’t been, the food really is top notch. it’s in our top 5 restaurants in KC for sure (not for ambiance) but for the food!
We are also their God parents, so that made it even more special to help them celebrate! They are the sweetest girls!
After a week of splurging, I am on to eating super healthy and working out all week long. I swear, I got 3 zits just from veering from my GF and DF diet! So frustrating! It is just a good reminder how much our diet can affect the look of our skin.
Have a great week everyone!
