March Madness at The Ainsworth

If you know me, you know that March Madness basketball ranks up there as one of my favorite times of the year. I have loved watching basketball since I was young, and fell in love with College hoops when I went to Indiana University. Now we have gotten the kids in on the fun; filling out brackets and watching the games together. Jon and I always make a date “afternoon” to go to a bar and watch the games. But we always struggle picking a place to go.

FINALLY, K.C. has a great place to watch the games.  A restaurant and bar with amazing food and drinks and plenty of t.v.’s to watch; with an upscale “sports bar feel”. I feel like this is something we have been missing for a long time in Kansas City. Guys, meet The Ainsworth!

We are so lucky to have The Ainsworth here in KC. It is a New York based restaurant with locations all over the city and in New Jersey. They are known as the IT spot in NYC to watch games. Just watch their insta stories! The atmosphere is warm and cozy, yet casual and fun. When it gets packed for big games, it is a lively and happening scene.

The Ainsworth is located in Park Place, overlooking the ice skating rink/grassy area. It is a prime spot to hang out.

We met up with some friends to watch a KU game; but of course I couldn’t wear Jayhawk gear. So even though our team stinks this year I had to rep my Hoosiers.

We tried a few of their signature cocktails, most popular food items, and some of their new brunch menu. Here is what we loved…

The “Crooked Knife”with jalapeno infused tequila with lemon and agave was the table favorite. That was until Jon ate the pepper and he was on fire for about 30 minutes 🙂

The Ainsworth donates a percentage of sales of two of their specialty cocktails to Be Head Strong. A local non profit working towards a cure for brain cancer. They are the “Ol Jackie Girl” and the “Tequila Old Fashioned”

How cute are our friends Trace and Julia?? They are instructors at Health House and we adore them 🙂 They are both vegan, and were able to find some things on the menu they liked! Like a veggie burger and fish tacos.

I loved everything on the brunch menu from the Burnt End Benedict to the sweet and delicious upside down french toast

Everyone loves the Mac and Cheese burger. It is certainly an indulgence but it is really good! It has panko crusted mac & cheese patty, a beef patty, mac & cheese, all on a sesame bun.

And if you REALLY want to take it to the next level; this ice cream cookie dessert was out of this world. My mouth is literally watering…

We had a great afternoon with our friends, and the service was wonderful. Thanks to The Ainsworth for hosting us. I can’t wait to go back to watch some basketball next week!!
