What to buy now: Summer Shoe Edit

I live for Sandal weather! Each spring I will invest in 1 dressier and 1 casual sandal that will take me through the entire season. I always find it to be worth investing more in shoes. Because 1. I am too old for uncomfortable shoes. There is nothing worse than blisters and sore feet. 2. You want them to hold up, and not have to buy multiple pairs. If you buy pretty classic styles, you can wear them season after season.

I am very much a neutral sandal person, because I like that I can wear them with everything. It’s fun to have a pop of color on your feet every once in a while, but most of the time if you go neutral you will get so much more bang for your buck!

Here are my top picks for trends to look for this season…

Strappy Sandals

Everything is very strappy this season. You will see crossover straps, horizontal straps, and many thick strap sandals. I love what Ancient Greek Sandals is doing; they are pricier but you can’t beat the quality and the comfort!

Embellished Sandals

Pearls, Crystals, Beads, you name it. Whether it is a flat or high sandal, embellishment is one of the hottest trends going this Spring. I actually bought 2 pairs of embellished sandals. These clear straps with rhinestones by Mystique and The Valentino inspired higher heels from Ash. I have already worn both and they are super comfortable and versatile! I thought the rhinestone ones might be a little too flashy, but they are really amazing. These will also be a great pool slide/vacation sandal.

Athletic Slides:

This might be the season that you replace your typical rubber thong sandal with an athletic inspired slide. They are definitely more comfortable, and great to wear to the pool or to kids sporting events on the weekends. There are all price points to choose from this season. I have seen all of the high end designers doing a version of this shoe for a few hundred dollars. But, it’s really what you want to spend, and how much you will wear them! These from APL look SO comfortable.

Tennis Shoes:

These are still a staple item you should have in your shoe wardrobe. My first pair of Golden Goose sneakers I got 3 years ago and I have worn them into the ground. They have been totally worth the investment! I like the look of  Veja (but have heard they aren’t as comfortable and with not great support) and also the new Isabel Marant sneakers, but they are definitely an investment! Converse and Superga always make a great, more affordable everyday sneaker.

Clear Sandals:

This was a trend we saw last year, and it is definitely continuing into 2019. I bought a pair of higher heeled clear strappy sandals and I can’t tell you how much I wore them! They were the best purchase for me last year. I will wear them again all this season.  I love these by Schutz (one of my favorite shoe brands that I continue to buy season after season)
